For training funded by Michigan Works!, payment does not need to be received before the start date as long as an ITA (Individual Training Account) is on file. An ITA is a voucher or fund that eligible individuals can use to pay for a specific training program.
This exception does not apply to private financing agreements, which must be paid according to the terms of the agreement.
For classes at college partner locations, please contact the college’s short-term training representative for payment instructions.
If you are considering earning your CDL but are concerned about training costs, Michigan Works! offers valuable support. Through scholarships and grants, eligible participants can often have the entire cost of CDL training covered, particularly those who are unemployed or underemployed. To begin, contact your local Michigan Works! office, where staff will guide you through the application process and review your eligibility. Typically, requirements include being a Michigan resident, demonstrating financial need, and enrolling in training for a high-demand career field—with CDL driving being one of them. This funding opportunity allows many participants to pursue CDL training with little to no personal expense, opening the door to a stable and rewarding career in commercial driving. https://www.michiganworks.org
TARFF (Tuition Assistance for Rural and Farm Families) is an alternative student loan program designed to provide financial assistance for higher education and specialized training, including CDL programs. Administered by the Michigan Rural Rehabilitation Corporation (MRRC), TARFF offers low-interest loans to cover tuition-related expenses not met by other loans or grants. To be eligible, applicants must have a gross family income of $60,000 or less and either be a member of a farm family or reside in a rural community with a population under 12,000. When completing the application, it is important to note how taxes are filed; if you and your spouse file separately, that information must be included, as it may affect income eligibility calculations.
Regen Trucking School administers a private loan program in partnership with a third-party lender. Loan applications and approvals are processed directly by Regen Trucking School, while loan funds are provided and serviced by our lending partner. All CDL programs offered by Regen Trucking School are eligible for financing through this program.
